PARADIGM COMMUNICATIONS GROUP AWARDED TOP MAGAZINE HONORS AT THE SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISTS 2010 AWARDS CEREMONY



SEATTLE -- Alaska Airlines Magazine and Horizon Air Magazine, published by Paradigm Communications Group, received honors in the magazine division of this year’s Society of Professional Journalists Excellence in Journalism competition, winning six awards. Paradigm editors, art directors and free-lancers received three first-place awards, one second-place and two third-place awards. The SPJ’s Western Washington Chapter awards were presented May 21 at the SPJ annual banquet honoring Excellence in Journalism among magazine, newspaper, Internet and broadcast media for work done in 2010

Alaska Airlines Magazine, won two awards. The magazine received one first-place award: Sport Photography, Jeff Schultz, "The Great Race" and one second-place award: Headlines, Staff, Alaska Airlines Magazine.

The staff of Alaska Airlines Magazine includes Paul Frichtl, Editor; Michele Andrus Dill, Senior Editor; Jen Schaefer, Associate Editor; Michele Whitehead, Contributing Editor; Patty Warkentin, Margaret Elson, Art Directors; Ken Krass, Advertising Director; Mimi Kirsch, Publisher; and Ed Kirsch, CEO.

Horizon Air Magazine won four awards. The magazine received two first-place awards: Cover Design, Nancy O'Connell, October Issue and Enviromental Affairs, Eric Lucas, "Condor Camp."

The magazine earned two third-place awards: Science and Health Reporting, Scott Driscoll, "Digital Medicine" and Personal Service Reporting, Jennifer Haupt, "Retirement Living."
